The man who created the Marvel Universe turns 88 today

Hello Comic Icon Worshipers,
I want to ask every comic book fan do you happen to know which Comic genies was born today and happens to share their special day with my niece Heidi?, here is a few things the person did before even writing about those long johned wearing secret identities of the most iconic form of literature, since Christmas is really and truly in July?, won't believe that huh?, what about a ice cube being able to leave a watermark on the fireball called the sun? or how about any animal of your choosing eating the daylights outta tomorrow?, you all know I'm kidding I hope about these witticism farce jokes, right-O! The comic crea
tor I am refereeing to when he was a kid had well of great dreams, like saving the princess/girl from being bullied by someone with a weapon yet at the last minute run away screaming as most kids would still do today if put in the same situation after seeing a movie. This comic person at the age of nine had written to his local newspaper "creative writing essay" part for three weeks in a row and won each time. The editor of the paper asked the young boy to give other young writers a chance personally in a respond to his third time at bat of winning for he was to good at letting such a young mind go to waste, he offered a that Birthday Boy should think about becoming a Professional writer. After a lot of odd jobs over the next couple of years this Birthday boy got to work for his mother's cousin's husband Martin Goodman in his publishing company known as Timely Comics. Okay enough fooling around here is who our Birthday boy is
Stan Lee. I do hope you as well enjoy his special day even if you don't know him personally for his great creative mind if nothing else.

Heidi a very special birthday girl

This is my younger brother Micheal's oldest kid of his two children that he has with his loving wife Kathie Byrd, they also have a young boy that this uncle thinks is just cool as his older sister named Heidi, and today is Heidi's tenth birthday. To me she and her brother Cannon are joys to behold every time I get to be around them, not because either one is trying to out love the other when it comes to showing their affections towards me (Which I think at times Cannon thinks he must do just to being Cannon, but hey nothing wrong with that since he's always learning). Heidi is part of her age group in gymnastics, she been part of it since she was four I believe, her mother is one of her teacher(s) where she attends which is "ALL AMERICAN Gymnastics" she can do cart wheels and tumble as far as I know like there is no tomorrow to worry about. She seems to have a inkling for loving art in someway or other as well she made those finger puppets herself that you see her holding there by the way. I think whatever she will choose as a profession when she does reach adulthood she without a doubt be great at it for how her childhood is forged at this very moment shows signs of a good listener (boy I just wonder where she got that from in someway? maybe, from her uncle who's writing this very story about a young kid who works hard in her own way to succeed in understanding everything about goodness in life.) I do hope she will enjoy her day today for it is her birthday after all, and with that I wish Heidi Lynn Byrd a grand birthday every year on the twenty eighth of December even if uncle Matt can't find the words to say it just right?, I love you always and forever!

Something crazy had happen on Christmas eve day that I just have to share with you

Hey everyone,
All I can say is I'm very sad still for myself and trying to keep track of my w
alking steps, for when we at ALBERTSON'S a couple days ago were busier (than any other given Holiday, when is our next one again....) I some how had lost this it is my pedometer seen here. (boy I wanna know who's cloth stripped hand that is on the shirt I'm wearing is, don't you?) Well with the lost of it, it looks like I'll have to buy another one I guess, I just hate it when stuff like this happens when you or in this case I set a goal of trying to keep a balance for myself in staying in check about my health outside of what I also eat daily I WANNA KNOW MY STEPS and I just can't. I hope when I find a new one it will be better in someway than this one, at least that's what I'm hoping for?

A nice little treat like this is "VERY RARE" for me

I know that at this time of year that it is really easy to fly off of one's diet from time to time and lately I've been super Great about sticking to low sodium type of food since it's part of my lifestyle now. Tonight after looking for a certain UPS drop site with a friend with a car (this is my helper that I haven't shared much about yet, I've been meaning to ask her about this), we were trying to pick up a Christmas gift someone has sent me it took us quite of a bit going around in circles before we found out where it was. Don't worry for whoever sent it I haven't look to see what it is yet, besides that's what Christmas morning is for after all right-O. After this little trek I wrapped a couple of gifts for a coworker of mine at ALBYS which is the DVD "Inception" and a book written by Peter F Hamlition a sci fi writer we both like. Before I went to give my friend his gift I went over to "GREAT CLIPS" it's a hair cut shop and I just stopped by for a minute to ask if they were open there regular hours for tonight which they were, so I came back to "Great Clips" at about seven fifthteenish and got a nice hair cut for Christmas day. I then went over to subway to get me something to eat, because after looking for that UPS warehouse for the amount time it took us I was hungering more than I actually knew. So I order my usual which is a flat bread roast beef with green bell peppers, Red onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and Popeye's favorite can food of Spinach topped with pepper and Oregano, I also got four cookies which is bad enough in and of itself when one is on a low sodium diet. I was talking to my Sandwich artist as I always do because I know them well of this person only to find out while we were chatting they had made me have a bill of $883.74, I said OK who is having a party and they joking said I was, well to make a long story short more customers came in and they offer them a free pop while they undid their flub. So they also gave me a cup as well, and since I hadn't had a pop since August of earlier this year I decided to indulge myself with a Graveyard of soda. and came home and watched a episode of the new HE-MAN & MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE from 2002- 2004 it was titled "SIREN'S SONG" and I attempted to watch the one after it but I was to tried to keep my eyes open so I went to bed instead.

What Christmas movies do you love or like?

So can I ask yet another "Christmas Question" if I may?, well as you all know I already asked "what's your favorite "Christmas tune" was earlier this very month and now I wanna just know does anyone have a favorite "Christmas movie", that they hold dear as this is what I feel towards the holiday bestowed on me type of feeling when watching a said movie." For me I would have to say I have many such themed "Christmas" forms of entertainment such as this. I have tv series that have a break from the regular format in someway or other, but what is super sad is that both of these two forms of entertainment NO MATTER WHAT, fall short of showing us all that "LOVE IS and ALWAYS will be the most important guiding force in our everyday lives...." Now I'm NOT saying any movie or tv series is wrong completely in how they convey their reaching audiences. For the writers and directors of these joys of entertainment that are new and to the old pros, please show how much you love your work whatever it maybe by remembering who fuels your everyday needs and LOVE how you put that message into the final piece of what you call movie making. I hope that whoever reads this will enjoy the "Christmas" entrainment whatever you use to get to knowing that Love is the meaning of all life.

"A Misletoe Kiss" before the Christmas play

The reflection from the Christmas tree's glittering white lights glistened on the white snow from the window of the navy blue house as the crescent moon from the night sky shone into the room. It had started blowing the snow just as the young man named Glenn Readman rang the doorbell of the Mereso family he was bundled up with his brown leather coat and his red and green snowflake covered scarf, " Com' on, Com' on Staciee Open up it's freezing out here on your porch" his lips were slightly chapped. All of a sudden he heard the dead blot from the other side of their cedar oak door being unhinged he was thinking "Great maybe she'll let me have some Eggnog to moisten my lips before we go to the play across town..."

Sure enough it was his Staciee that had open her front door. Glenn was awe struck by her white and red fur coat that covered her winter white sweater, he had to admit she looks like a candy cane standing there. He just wished at that said moment he had some mistletoe to pin on her candy cane colors, "Hey do you have some Egg..."All of sudden that sweet candy cane dressed lady kissed him right on his lips... "What's with the holiday sweet loving my little candy cane?" She didn't really want to let those dry lips lose she wanted to warm them up with her own, so she pointed up Glenn tilted his head just to see what she was eying at the moment. "Nice little treat from your candy cane pal huh?" Nice and tasty for sure Ms Mereso so when did this piece of Mistletoe appear for it wasn't here yesterday right?" "I put it up there on the door frame She was taking it down from the door frame, but still held it in hand. "Earlier this afternoon since we were going to the play I want to be a little sassy tart with my Candy Cane loving boyfriend, hope I didn't over sweeten your dry lips, Mr.Readman?" "I will have to think about that on the way over to "A Christmas Carol" he had taken her hand that held the little fig and raised her arm so that they could have a Mistletoe stroll of kisses on the way to the play.

The movie I saw last night was super cool in everyway

All that I can say is that it has been a long time since I went to go the movies last. Last night I went to go see a movie because since my dad passed away a great many things were aching to be needed for my soul again, some of these you can see in last month's listings here at Day life of the Matt: "Everyone Grieves in their own way....", like I said with that book titled "Trolls in the Hamptons" got me into wanting to read a book again in at least a four month period of time, and garbing that Spider-man comic cover T-shirt as well helped me connect with ways I related to my dad in my later teen years and early twenties as well. If you also recall I said I was wanting to see a movie as well and that I kinda wasn't sure what I wanted to really see at the time but I did want to see the animated movie by DREAMWORKS called MEGAMIND and I knew without a doubt I wanted to see it in 3D. Here is MEGAMIND ,who happens to be voiced by none other than "ELF's Buddy", or maybe "The LAND OF THE LOST researching dude", or he is most notably referred to as one of Saturday Night Live's most joker since Adam Sandler, MEGAMIND is given voice by none other than Will Ferrell. The movie also has another big Saturday Night alum who impersonates Alaska governor Sara Palin Tina Fey. It also has a bit part by Brad Pitt in it as well. The movie is for anyone who loves comic books without a doubt even more so than this super family

called "THE INCREDIBLES" from back in two thousand and four. They were to be Disney's answer to Marvel Comics first breakout hit from in the very early
nineteen sixties called the Fantastic Four. The whole movie of Megamind is told from the villain's point of view, most comic book themed propitiates don't go that route of telling the story at least of the most popular ones that I can think of with the exception of the Incredible Hulk being a man carrying a super power inside of himself. Megamind also has the very rare learning a message tag line like the old HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, did from back in the nineteen eighties. DID I happen to choose the right movie of a choice between this and SKYLINE which I also really want to see, and in 3D no less this one was I'll just tell you this about it when it comes out on DVD I want the deluxe edition of this gem.

Is there ANY HOPE that this is showing why the internet has problems even just a little wee bit?

Let me ask you all something, Is everything you read about on the internet always true to some degree of fact?, or is everything on here a lot of lies and mud slinging as most places you visit worth the time and effort to search out the said information you want or need?, Here are my thoughts on the subject at hand from the Spider-Man site I visit on a regular basis called Crawlspace. Just yesterday it was posted at Spider-Man Crawlspace that the writer of the monthly comic book "Amazing Spider-Man Dan Slott went and told a Spider-man fan on a whole other site to go "F-themselves" that said other website went and erased the whole link, so that they could be a washed of this news. A moderator of the Crawlspace happen upon this before that happen and shared it with the site creator Brad Douglas who wanted "ALL" die hard Spider-man fans to know of the main writer of Marvel's flagship character harsh remarks to one fan out of rudeness. Now I'm NOT holding Crawlspace to blame but, boy did the responses in the comment section pour in like Spider-Man's webs tangled up into a ball is most certainly an understatement for sure, the posters responding also included NOT Xcluding Marvel's editor of the Spider-man books Steve Wacker. Dan Slott himself at first posted nothing whatsoever to defend his own actions for what he did to the fan at all. Now I Matt have NOT posted anything on the site whatsoever and as a real fan should I keep my two cents to myself heck no and I won't because I feel that Marvel or it's new owners Disney should DO SOMETHING to right the wrong of freelance writer Dan Slott but exactly what I don't know? Now though it seems Slott claims "someone told him to die in a fire" from at Crawlspace and someone also hacked his Wikipedia file and said even worst type of stuff. Brad has been on the defense each time Slott came back with a fair response to his own Mud slinging which Dan admits he had done to the fan in question so all together there are three articles on the subject at the site. I would like to know what all you non Spider-Man fans and family think of this, if you don't mind and please post here at Day Life of the Matt so, here once again is a link to the Crawlspace website Spider Man Crawlspace - All Spidey, All the time. Created by Brad Douglas in 1998 The three post header dates you'll be looking for are December7th: "Slott tells fan to F-off", then on December 11th "Slott speaks out and blames Crawlspace", and the final part for now at any weight is on December13th "Editorial Slott vs Crawlspace". I still believe in my heart of hearts that without a doubt both sides are fair in how they feel so justified on their way of how this all started is NOT by just what one creator said to a fan. Here is something to compare it to MY dislike of how Joe Quesada has ruined the character for everyone is cruel to anyone who has ever been or ever will be a comic fan or dreamer of wanting to be in the comic book business.
Is there really and truly a better way for a show of how a general conversation on ANY WEBSITE can be a way of how things on the whole internet can be turned into such a catholic mess of trivia nothingness. All that I can say is it happens more often than anyone thinks it could! And yes just so you all know I believe that Crawlspace is the best Spider-Man website on the web and here's why because it carries the daily comic strip that I post here everyday-Nuff Said!

Pearl Habor: Rememberance of December 7th 1941

Can I ask you what world related event sticks out to you like a sore more than any other in recent times, that affected not just you alone, but brought everyone around the world together?, would it be the BP oil spill
from in this past April while I happen to be visiting my mother and Chuck in Cuenca Ecuador?, or would it be the big hurricane known as Katrina that occurred in 2002 in New Orleans in the state of Louisiana?, Remember I just said it brought the whole world to see how horrible things can be at times, "and sure as a bee loves honey" these other two events I mentioned just now bring to light a disaster for sure. I did forget to mention this event also brought about a ongoing war that hasn't ended even till today in fact, I of course mean the event on 9/11. The war on terror itself goes even further back than that sad day. I want to now take a moment and have most everyone who reads this to remember you may not or maybe you were alive when the Japanese Imperial air attack on Pearl Harbor began at 7:15 am (I'm pretty sure that close to when America was brought into World War II) over sixty eight years ago. I hope that to all future generations of people learn to respect the horrors and honors of our place and theirs in human history, for we shall always have to remember them anyway. For we must always remember we cannot change our past for all of us, but maybe just maybe we can choose to change what happens for each of ourselves by the choices we make from today forward. So if you know a Pearl Harbor vet or a relative of a Pearl Harbor vet be sure to thank them for what they did today on Pearl Harbor Day so long ago......

Is it too early to tell just yet or not....

So knowing what we all know from a few weeks ago with shots like this

or like this

here in Tri Cities Washington there is an amount of snow that won't seem to go away at all. Our first snow fall of two thousand ten was on November 23,in which I posted about in this color of
"Apple Green" if you all recall. Now I know it is "way too early hope for the BRR of winter to be gone, and have Springtime blooming flowers & trees outta nowhere isn't gonna happen at any time soon although it would be nice if it would, but as I have said before "EVERY SEASON HAS IT'S TIME" and right now it's winter time!" Or at least close enough to it, besides with rushing things along Children can't go and make "Snow angles", Snow forts, Snowmen or is that more snow people with today's wording, I'll let you decide for yourself, and finally the ever loving Snowball like the one I have here.

Even though "WINTER" isn't just here starting today, "For some reason I keep feeling like it though or at least that is wishful hopeful thinking of us having a WARM CHINOOK WIND blow thru town on my part, which isn't so bad is it?"

What is your favorite Christmas song?

Come on now I know that you have to have one even if you don't celebrate December 25th, as the birthday of our heavenly father's son Jesus Christ, or exchange gifts. What's more important than that at this time of year you be asking right? is it sending out cards or emails out to your loved ones, well maybe? Could the image of
"ol Jolly St. Nick (better known as Santa Claus to children the world over be what I'm hinting at?)" Nah but it has to do with what we hear in melodies on the Radio or in stores as we go about our Christmas shopping yes I'm referring to "Santa Claus is comin' to town" or "Jingle Bells" better known as Christmas songs their are a lot of them out there that is for sure. So do you have one of those songs that speaks out most to you about this time of year?, for me I'd have to say of my top favorite Christmas tunes would be " I saw Mama "Kissing" Santa Claus", "The Twelve day of Christmas", "Roudphla the RED nose Reindeer", "Silent Night". One last thing do Christmas Songs give you more to think about the person your buying for at Christmas time or not?"

December 04, 2010

Here's a thought about the meaning of the LOST tv series to me anyhow.....

I am sure that without a doubt for those of you who visit this""BLOG" a great every once in a while also know that besides being a Si-Fi, Comic, Big kid, oh and finally a at least every now and again attempting writer in my own rite: I also happen to be a HUGE "LOST FAN:
" . As you can see I do happen to be able to prove it in a Island type of way, with the recent passing of my dad Micheal Joe Byrd something about this series of all kinds of people trying to find redemption in their own lives.....How can or should I say it....just goes to show how much deeper LOST'S: themes are. I think everyone who is a fan of the series should re watch it all from beginning to the end with this as your question: "HOW WILL I (put your own name here) BE REMEMBER?" think this whole question through as you watch this series and YOU will come to understand not only the series of LOST better, but reflect on your way of living your life in a very richer meaning. This is only ONE of many Christmas gifts that I Matt feel I can offer to my reading fans, and know that I mean it from the love of my soul to whoever reads this soul as a way to understand the lost of your love ones as well and know that I do understand your pain as much as my own.

December 03, 2010

A birthday today, a rememberace as well, today is a two folded day for sure....

Today has two very important things that I will never forget happening, what are these two things your asking right? ,One these two important things is that today is my younger brother Micheal's birthday, Here is a drawing him and his little girl Heidi that I did years ago at around this time of year in pastel oils, I made him one in colored pencils but to tell the truth I love both versions that I did of this because both are unique in their own way. Besides both he and I have one so it's special in that way as well. Still yet the other thing that I want to share about is it has been a month now officially and "WE": Micheal and his wife and kids, and my sister Kylie and her son Bryce also my mother Nancy Watson have come through one whole month today without the man whom we three kids called Dad, and who Nancy at one time called her husband Micheal Joe Byrd. All I can say is each day of life is a challenge of itself but how we deal with loss in our own given time makes each day a little more bearable...if only for a moment reflex on those we lose in life as a stepping stone to remember all of that loved one's life in every way we can is the most Important thing we can do to love the ones we loved in our life and theirs. Yes that I think is what is the best way to remember anyone we lose in our journey in what we call live.

My Christmas memories with my dad

I only wish that I could have a few actual photos of our family Christmas's of the past when my dad was alive. Before my folks moved to Cuenca Ecuador we all of the kids Kylie, Lyle, Micheal & yours truly had a great chance of going through many pre digital cameras pictures, Merri got her Christmas stuff that year hand delivered to her by mom and Chuck before they left. I remember quite a few of my memories with dad growing up at Christmas time of the year. I think the best was of was in 1978. I recall my dad and mom got me a Dukes of Hazzards "ERTL, racing track.(that was the name of the company that put out Dukes of Hazzards toys.) I remember when dad and Micheal my brother were putting it together at the Hoxie house where we lived back then. The following year in nineteen seventy nine I remember getting two of Marvel's big named characters of you know who was popular back then I would hope was a Green "Purple panted" Monster & A webby Spider-dude, they both had Velcro hands and feet I also remember getting some Mister Rodger's venial records that were just so cool as well. I also remember getting a Huge Loin in 1980 that was like the "Win" at a fair size, and earlier that same summer at "six flags over Georgia" my grand daddy won me a regular sized one which I named LEO the loin so when I got the bigger one I just decided to call him BIG LEO or maybe it was papa Leo I'm not sure now but it was one of the two for sure that I do remember. I remember in nineteen eighty four my dad got me the MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE Snake Mountain playset, and in the following year he gave me the Evil Horde Fright Zone
playset. It was after this time that we were living in Maryland and he came to visit us as his Christmas present to us kids he admitted "He was glad we only had a year to six months left being there and that it was cold too." In nineteen eighty eight I got the Lou Graham auto cassette album which has the hit "Just between you and me" which I loved since I first heard it on the radio in the earlier part of that year. In the later part of the early nineteen nineties he got me a few "How to draw comics" and "Cartooning the human body", he got me these for he knew I loved drawing and wanted to be a comic artist in someway or other- Boy I wonder where that Idea came from huh? Anyway I always knew my dad tried showing his love at Christmas time as much and best he could and most all of the time he won every year hands down as far I was concerned.

December 01, 2010

Is your December busy too....?

Don't you just find yourself all WRAPPED up still in the ongoing holidays this time of year, I mean first there was that spooky or scary candy collecting holiday known as HALLOWEEN at the end of October, then just a week ago we had THANKSGIVING at the end of last month known as November. Yet the holidays are far from over, because in the last two weeks of the month of December mostly every person celebrates what is called CHRISTMAS and a week later after that is NEW YEAR'S EVE. For me though I don't know about you I have the most of people I know that have Another year added to their lives. I do hope to have a very special set of two blogs from earlier this year about "A SCI-FI legend known as STAR TREK". I will not tell you how big I'm planning on this set begin. I was wanting to do something similar to what I did of having you ALL guess what I have on my desktop for Christmas time and show you what I had at the same time last year on Christmas Day, which was this but I felt playing games isn't right for this time of year anyhow? Don't you agree...so here is what I have as my comic themed Christmas wallpaper

and boy did I fool ya if you thought I was gonna have a ol Spidey Christmas themed one, huh?
