My way of honoring Lyle is a......

Now I'm not really sure if it was after seeing Mister Spock of Star Trek fame with a cat in his hands as to if that had made a very easy decision of Lyle Watson to always love the breed of animal or not? But still for those who knew Lyle best would approve of this TREK-A-TION  in remembering why he loved the whole series so very much so.......

Hello everyone,

I'm sure that without a doubt you know what I Matt Byrd have had on my mind for the last few weeks, that of course being matters of soul searching and heart felt ways of thinking of my step brother Lyle Watson. Now as I have said he and I are big wait spelling BiG in this very context does require capitalization on ALL meanings.... So Lyle and I Matt his step brother had a BIG love of anything science fiction from the small screen to the BIG ONE known more properly as a movie screen. One thing that is scattered throughout this very blog is a little thing known as:
Star Trek! All day today I have been going through my mind of which episodes would best be for Lyle in honoring his love of Trek and how he had passed away......

It just so happens that with my very first choice that I chose to respect my step brother of Trek episodes of heart to heart love is from the original series, and shows two parts of what Lyle loved in the real world. The first episode I decided on was original aired on March eighth, nineteen sixty eight an was the fifty third episode of the series entitled "THE ULTIMATE COMPUTER"

, in this story the Enterprise comes to  a remote section of Federation space and learns from the commodore which in that ship that meet them there known as the Lexington was instructed to engage the Enterprise in a series of tactical war games. The Enterprise ran on a skeleton of twenty officers while the  main operations were controlled by the man known as Richard Daystrom or rather his latest  achievement in mulitrionics which is known as M-5. At first M-5 operates as it should in it functions during war games test themselves, but for some reason it takes over the whole ship and kills one of Scotty's engineers

in the process. In the end it is Kirk's hope that by the Enterprise powering down it's systems that they hope not to be destroyed by the Lexington. The second episode I chose to watch was called "ASSIGNMENT EARTH". The Episode starts with this man beaming through the transporter onto the ship

,   his name happens to be Gary Seven. He is an alien in human form trying to stop an whole other race of aliens that he is fighting from stopping the first space flight test with the result leading to a nuclear war. Kirk and Spock beam down to stop him for they don't wish to alter earth's time line with their or Gary's presence if only they knew what he said to be truthful..... after Gary and his cat do stop the launch by searching the interior of the missile

for bomb parts and disarming them he and the captain and first officer set off for journeying to more unknown adventures in outer space!  The next installment I watched really hits home if you will of what happen to Lyle and the way he passed away in a small way of sorts....... The episode was titled "SPOCK'S BRAIN" in the Vulcan first officer has his brain removed by this alien woman seen here

, who has taken it to her planet to make it the functioning controller to operate the whole planet. Kirk and his crew mates make a leap of faith in finding the star system she went and

returned to.When McCoy tells Kirk that "They have only one TWENTY FOUR HOUR PERIOD OF TIME TO PLACE SPOCK'S NOGGIN back where it belongs or else...." Kirk responds with "WE ARE TAKING HIM IN SEARCH OF HIS BRAIN DOCTOR!" In fact the rest of the episode is written in puns for the most part. When they find the alien woman leader they find a great reversal of fortune of how society is ran on the planet. They come to find out she used a device known as the "TEACHER" to know what she needed to do, McCoy puts on the "TEACHER" and knows how to repair Spock's most vital organ to live, but as he works at the same time he is starting to lose the knowledge and Kirk has him

repair Spock's vocal pattern and Spock assists McCoy in finishing repairing the Vulcan's brain. You would think after Classic Trek that I'd be done with remembering Lyle, but alas no he like any Trek fan loved the NEXT GEN as well, so I went an watched season three's "YESTERDAY'S ENTERPRISE" in where we see before the true story begins Worf and Guinan are talking of him having a relationship with one of his female crew mates  and we find out the the first Kilngon in Starfleet happens

to love an old lady's drink of......Prune Juice.   The Enterprise sees the opening of a rift in space, through this rift comes a whole new timeline and the Enterprise's predecessor the Enterprise 1701-C. with the timeline altered the Federation is at war with both the Romulans and the Kilngons as well. In fact the only constant of the story was Guinan who met with a long dead character of Next Gen lore and told that character of her alter self's timeline. So that character joins the crew of Enterprise -C and helps them get back to their proper time. With the Enterprise -D crew never really knowing what became of the predecessor outcome

,either way? My final Trek episode to honor my step brother is the one and only "Q character" one not to have "Q this or that in it's title" it happens to be meaningful in this very tribute for  Lyle Watson it is the seventh season episode of Next Gen where Captain Picard dies in the start of very episode an meets

Q in the afterlife. We learn that Picard dies because of his artificial heart giving out on him after leading an away team mission on a forgotten planet to him at this point Q lets him relive his past in order to make sure he doesn't die as soon as he does.....Picard comes to find out after making certain threads different of his life changed he does like his real heart self so much. He then ask Q to put his life back the way it was and he could be Captain of the Enterprise again

, an Q for some reason grants his request and Picard is later talking to Riker of his whole experience and tell him that for the first time he would like to "Thank Q for showing him the "Tapestry" chance at change in his own life. I would like to think that if someone were to write a tribute to me Matt Byrd that they after I'm gone have a heart of sharing all of my life events where ever they may lead me to be in the parts of life's grand journey of death for as told in the bible life goes on even when we leave the planet earth........ Lyle I not only hope your having fun with role playing games in heaven but that all of your former cats are with you as I know you'd want it to be......Love your step brother Matt Byrd
