Football is many things.....

Hey Super Bowl fans,                                                      To all who love the game of Football I do hope that you are enjoying the 54th Super  bowl even if you're team didn't make it this given year. It  is between the San Francisco 49rs and Kansas city Chiefs. I am sure that anyone who knows me that sports of any kind are NOT MY THING! I don't  want everyone to think I hate sports I just find other things more fulfilling but I  want to say what I feel about Football in prictual in general of why it is better than even you or I are aware of if it is okay with you!                                                                                  Football is very good for keeping people of all sizes and ages from adults to children thinking about being strong about exercising your legs and arms in being active in taking what they learn from practicing and applying it to understanding every day life. Football is always if you take a moment of looking at it is men fighting against each other in the context of it being all out war in the safest way possible of in the end each team has put their  ultimate Best effort in building up hope and confidence in their hearts and souls. Still there are things about Football that are sad as well that is when any player is hurt. I love that the game gets so many people of every team excited for loving their teams all that much more...but does that give those fans the rightly means to brag about their teams, I wouldn't know because I am a man who hopes all is grand in everything we as a society do.                                                                                         I know that even Football players may at times let their egos get the better of them at times, but I have to admit we all have to remember being humble is what keeps us positive for all hopeful bits of life. It looks like the final score is KCC 31 and the 49rs 20. Have a great ground hog day as well all!

As promised before heading to Adventures....

 Hello all, Look I know that it has been at least a few years since I have put together a blog post of any  kind and in truth I will admit that it's not because of not trying.....but because of a simple thing called existing. Now I will also say that this is also my first post of 2020. As you all know about me that I love a art form called comic books, today before returning to the comic shop known as Adventures Underground I am going to tell you my thoughts on a certain trade that I got around  last year just before the release of a comic book film that just last week came out on multiple media it happens to be called "JOKER". I'm not entirely sure of if I will be getting the movie right away. I think before adding it to my collection I will be viewing it on Netflix after seeing it there, I will add it because it is a very different from superhero films.                                                                                                 Now before I take us on the overall review of this trade I want you to know when I went an purchased it I also got these two   

, trades seen here JOKER and BATMAN year one, and one of them is over one hundred pages of story. So let get into this set of battles of which I can tell you that I really know the deep background of one these very well. Altogether this trade has seven stories that span from nineteen seventy three up to twenty sixteen, I'm going to give a brief summary of each tale with a couple of pictures of each one.

The first story is from BATMAN # 251 Sept. titled "THE  JOKERS FIVE WAY REVENGE!" the story is by Denny O' Neal and art by Neil Adams. On the outskirts of Gotham city the police and commissioner Jim Gordon are looking at a murder suspect wondering who committed the violent crime in the first place and why? Gordon is wondering where THE BATMAN is, when he arrives he tells Jim that he has been there doing his own investigation work. He then shows them the give away clue 

 that it is his old foe known as Joker by the card he left at the scene. THE BATMAN then stars visiting Joker's various mob bosses he has worked with to find out that Joker has beaten him to finding each of them before BATMAN is there to help the poor saps. Except for the former forger Bing Hooley, whom was recently taken from a charity home by a Mister Genesius to Gotham's aquarium who is in turn really Joker and wants to kill two birds or rather foes with them being shark food. When Joker tosses both BATMAN and HOOLEY into the tank 

 you for a moment as the reader realizes even if unintentionally  that this reminds you of the BATMAN THE MOVIE from the campy live action series of the late nineteen sixties that starred Adam West as the hero, Batman and Cesar Romero as the clown prince of crime, the Joker. Need I say more... In the BATMAN'S DETECTIVE COMICS, #475 Feb. titled "THE  LAUGHING FISH", story by Steve  Englehart, penciler Marshall Rogers. We come to realize that like all heroes even BATMAN, has had his share of girl problems... and to top it off this girl seems to know his name 

hers by the way Ms St. Cloud. While swinging through Gotham's night and pondering it himself BATMAN'S attention is distracted by a call for help from a fish catcher who shows the detective a very odd set of fish. Meanwhile the Joker himself is in the bo office of Gotham wanting to trademark something and well I will let you see for yourselves ...

While at the same time Joker seem to be setting up a gains for himself among other mob bosses and his fellow foes of possession of learning BATMAN'S identity. One very cool things, I did find out while reading this one was the artists hid their names through out the story.                                                                            The third story in this trade is the continuation from the last one. BATMAN'S DETECTIVE COMICS # 476 with the month Apr, the story is titled "SIGN OF THE JOKER!" Things are going crazy from the Joker's copyrighting of fish with his own face by affecting other animals. Whom seem to inherit the madness from the aquatic life as seen by this cat 

 named ERNEST. Who attacks BATMAN... which turns out isn't the real Batman but is ERNEST'S true master THOMAS JACKSON.Which we find out minutes later is a murder that Joker had promised from earlier in the night, in an unknown place. Once BATMAN has dealt with the Joker he sees Miss Cloud 

where she tells him her feelings for him after they share a kiss before she walks away from his life...maybe forever? This story showed a great multitude of foes of BATMAN that even I have never heard of and that was a very interesting surprise for me, it makes me smile when a comic can do that!

             Earlier in this post I told you all about a comic in this very trade, that I know the inside and outs of it's history. We are at that one right now so here is my personal story of the addiction that is the safest ever for a teenager. Since the spring of nineteen eigthy seven I have been collecting comics. My family had moved back from living on the east coast in the summer of nineteen eighty eight and I had found the local comic store called Infinite Frontiers. A whole year later I remember that when I saw this very comic cover 

 when I was attending my very first comic convention, it was also BATMAN'S fiftieth year anniversary so a lot stuff was going on that year even a upcoming feature film. "DEATH IN THE FAMILY" was written by Thanos co creator Jim Stalling with art by Jim Aparo. In the course of this story earlier parts BATMAN'S ward Jason Todd was the second Robin and comic fans loathed the character completely to the point of hate. In the previous issue the Joker killed Robin, at the end of the issue there were two one nine hundred numbers with  BATMAN holding a bloodied Robin in his arms...                                                                 In "a DEATH IN THE  FAMILY", It finally seems as though the JOKER has bested BATMAN by taking away his partner of fighting crime against his foes by taking his ward Jason and blowing him and his mother up. That was in part at the end of issue 428, Dec. 1988. In this one BATMAN is out for no matter how you say it utter revenge no matter what, but the Joker has gone to great extremes to make  it impossible. How you are asking?               

 It is a C.I .A. agent by the name of Ralph Bundy, who tells BATMAN that the Joker has made himself an protected diplomat of Iran with that being the case no one but especially BATMAN can not lay a hand on him with out a international incident happening... like maybe world war III could be the final outcome if things were to result in Joker's favor! Even though Batman's hands are legally tied with dealing with the Joker he happens to get some help from the man of steel better known as by the Joker as 

 "SUPERHAM!" in throwing a proverbial wrench into killink  the Iranians delegates to start that hopeful war. Yes, the saddest part of this arc ends as Batman words describe it best of all between himself and the Joker... "UNRESOLVED."

In the next fight against these two comes from the "HUSH" storyline by writer Jeph Loeb and Image  artist Jim Lee, in BATMAN # 614. With the story titled THE JOKE. It has BATMAN seen here 

 breaking all of his might on the clown of crime. While telling us the readers what the Joker's past history has lead to this very showdown! In the end it  takes Jim Gordon's gun at Batman's noggin 

 to make the dark knight remember his very own code of honor rule. Does BATMAN crossover to being a true villain for the first time ever? I'm not telling mainly because I really don't know but I know that I have said trade of this storyline from last Christmas and am now very much wanting to devour it into my comic loving brain is all I can say about this one!

" BATMAN:ENDGAME part six is by writer SCOTT SNYDER and another Image comics artist as penciler this time it's GREG CAPULLO in BATMAN # 40 from twenty fifteen. This tale has not only BATMAN but all of his other foes, battling Joker...

What is very,very, interesting to me as a reader is that not only is BATMAN'S trusting alley Alfred Pennyworth not part of the leading help that goes to SNYDER'S newcomer character Julia...and he still makes his very arc as I was saying intriguing by having

 JOKER know who BATMAN really is! As they fight each other in some deep cave under Gotham's city streets... I am glad if I don't know for sure, because I felt it was the two them in the Batcave? but it is great having a good time getting to guess where the true location is!  I'm not sure if I liked this story as whole but it was still a fun reading experience none the less.         At last we have now arrived at the final yarn for this very trade, it is called BATMAN: EUROPA, the story is by MATTEO CASALI and BRIAN AZZARELLO with pencils and finishes by JIM LEE. After a fight with the Joker and him he yet again getting away and then fighting Killer Croc whom I am guessing is very similar to Spider-man foe the Lizard? BATMAN and his butler Alfred find out that not only is the Bat-computer has a virus with the word COLOSSUS as a pun or a clue to a possible answer?

Also at the same time BATMAN has a infectious breakdown of his blood cells. Thinking that computer information is formatted like a joke he heads overseas to Berlin. When after looking for Joker and eventually finding him threatening a computer hacker named  Marlene...BATMAN quickly puts together that both he

 

and the Joker have various peices to the very same computer virus and as well the same infectious disease. So to keep your pulse pounding and wanting to know how they get out this all you really know is that they have to work together to find out who is trying to kill both them and why?                                                        This last one really has me wanting to hunt down this very title in it's own individual iusses or the full BATMAN EUROPA trade! Soon I will have those other two trades having a posting real soon. Ready Player One - Matt's catching up on this one!

Finally got a great book completed: 
    Back in February it was coming up on my nephew Cannon's birthday and I was still finishing up reading this novel  that I got from Hastings back in August of twenty seventeen  

seen here. That stuff was freaky oddness of fans of a convention turning into zombies of all kinds, it was fun to me since I'm a huge fan of star trek in my own life. Now for the real reason for you being here is because of this book seen here

READY PLAYER ONE, the story of many things but especially about friendship among young people who share a love for classic video games. The narrative of the main character is from his virtual world avatar known as  Parzival for most of the overarching passage of his time in the OASIS that was created by James Halliday.  I started with this book just shortly after going on my vacation of twenty seventeen with my folks Nancy Powers Watson and Charles Ross Watson and his sister and her husband on a cruise to Hawaiian Islands. I had brought with me not only this new novel but also two from the Alien series by Gina Kochi and the original six part comic trade of 1992's INFINITIY WAR along with some pencil a drawing pad for good luck while in my room when we were at sea.                                                                     
         The author of this story put his love of the decades he grew up in as a child. Which was the nineteen seventies /eighties so I geuss in a lot ways Ernest Cline is much like me who was born in the early seventies, he put in several no better than several eighties and seventies memories of entertainment factors that were great joys to remenisice about. He brought up how he loves superheroes by comparing Parzival's real world identity of Wade Watts is Peter Parker, in the beginning of the novel Watts has his own Batcave that in reality is a van near his home which is known as the stacks. As for relating to the seventies Cline brings up video game arcades design, possibly his own birthday? for the OASIS and contest creator James Halliday character, The Muppet show and Sesame Street, and of course with the title being READY PLAYER ONE Cline mentions the home video games systems that he owned the first being a Atari 2600. Which he got in December, 1979.    
                    Building of the relationships such as friendships in this story really take care of growing from Stranger Danger of hiding behind your own created Avatars to understanding the feelings of trusting one's self with the worth of love. At the very same time the emissions of love are through out, so are the striving strength of power and greed are shown by the character Nolan Sorrento and his company Innovative Online Industries. He and his minions called Sixers are doing everything in their accumulations in stopping Mister Watts and his friends from winning ownership of the OASIS. For those who either love Role Playing Games or video games will love this book or if you like the 1980's for whatever reason your right at home as well. I'm giving this book a rating of grade A++, because you can find a particular part of READY PLAYER ONE that is yourself from start or finish!

Hey all , 
      You know that it seems like that I have gone into hiding from the world of creativeness or at least related to what it is I have stay about what I believe is important in the way of literature. Earlier today I went to Barnes and Noble out at our mall called Coumbia Center yet before I went looking around for the books seen here

    Kitchen counter, I found a big comfortable chair near the front of the store's enterance I went and finshed  the best offbeat story of mixed up fun that I have been reading since last October. Now before I begin this review remember when I was looking at the month of scares I was wanting to really get my blood to be chilled to the bone but it truly turns out that I was also wanting to find a novel or book that gave me a chance to really and truly experience my own INNER DARKNESS in my way of READING INTO THE UNKNOWN.....Yet I found out that I can't access anything except good ol science fiction of sorts. 
              This book between the incredible hulk beanie and spider-man beanie babies is called

"NIGHT OF THE LIVING TREKKIES" that is both conceived by two Trek fans that also have a fascinating itch of loving horror in the way of Zombies, their names are Sam Stall and Kevin David Anderson. The tease of the book in part is Journey to the final frontier of Sci-Fi zombie horror! Jim Pike (you  can see right where this is going if your a true Star Trek fan/nerd/lover of geek ness.....) was the world's biggest Star Trek fan - until two tours of duty in Afghanistan destroyed his faith in the human race. Now he sleepwalks through life as the assistant manager of a small hotel in downtown Houston.  But when hundreds of Trekkies arrive in his lobby for a science fiction convention, Jim finds  himself surrounded by costumed Klingons, Vulcans, and Ferengi - plus a strange virus that transforms it's carriers into savage, flesh-eating Zombies!
           This story has so much fun with itself you can tell the two writers took everything that they know of Star Trek's many incantations from the original series to Voyager and tossed in zombie movie favorites like "The return of the living dead (1985)", "Zombieland (2009)" and finally I am guessing the most important one that they based this work of literature off is "Night of the living dead  (1968)". It flows in a science grabbing you by the throat action in the reader's face without being completely dark. The one of many neat things they did was they had each chapter relatively related to it being Star Trek known by each one have a spin on a certain episode of the series in someway or other. I really loved the laughs in this novel from the music of William Shatner on the hotel's main intercom in the elevator, Jim's sister Rayna's main way of getting to the convention is priceless and the name of the hotel is named after a certain ship that Enterprise runs into in the episode known as "space seed", putting your thinking caps may be needed here if you are not a Trek fan yet the answer is the hotel's name is Botany Bay which is Khan Noonien Singh's ship from in the year 2267. Now here is a great tease for other science fiction fans to want to read this gem her name is Shelly Dumpkin and who she is in this is, well you're not going to get the answer from me! 
     Overall I have to give this book a rating of Extremely Transporter safety measures MUST BE ON AT ALL TIMES... For if not the fun in this existence will leave you dead with laughter, I give it  an A PLUS!                                                                                  

A few words of HOPE

        

Well All I can think of to continue to say and think is.....
    Haven't done a whole lot today, even though it is late into the first evening of twenty eighteen. Known better as January 1st, I can saw that I Matt Byrd have no true idea of what the whole coming year will behold for any creature that has been created to this point in our existence known as the journey of life. I know also that not the whole blue and green colored planet called earth doesn't all celebrate the incoming new year on the exact day of the new year. For example the Chinese New Year for this year of twenty eighteen isn't official until February sixteen. Which is still seven full weeks away, and their animal symbol for next year is that of the DOG.... So I guess all the Benjis, Tigers, Scooby-Doos, Wonder Dogs better be on the lookout regardless if your fictional or not. Extra credit for naming each fictional dog's actual show or series that they are in! 
          In truth beyond anything in this existence of ours known as life, we can only take each twenty four hours for what they are! I'm not being a know it all in any given way, but life is always about the choices we each human make rather we can see that set of results of those selective effective activities end. It is simply the cause and effect cycle of impact on ourselves....   
           Okay here is a very fine example of what I am talking about choosing a choice on a personal level that I have strong feelings and emotions about no matter what. I have been always in the way of living life that I shouldn't be TEMPTED into doing illegal type of Drugs like Cocaine, Acid, Meth, and even Marijuana the drug that former president Barack Obama made legal to make one less drug being not so much a problem for law enforcement agencies to worry about, but it is still up to each state of the united states to determine IF that is protecting that state's citizens. My thought on ILLGEAL DRUGS is this "Drugs hurt us,when we don't have real crucial information of why our empowering temptation is influenced by our knowledge that we feel is right and our decision is by feeling only. Here is what I found what worked BEST for me... I SAW IN MY HEAD THAT MY PEERS HELD Matt Byrd TO THE GROUND FORCING ME TO EAT CIGAETTES! I have kept that as rooted in my heart as the old saying " I LOVE YOU" and I know that I won't be ever easily put against a wall without why I don't DO DRUGS. Another choice in my life that is more questionable in a way that even I find HARD to explain is how I feel about the emtion of LOVE. I know from my experience with life as you all do life isn't full of answers in understanding love other than you need to share that with family most of all. I guess the best to looking at what love is besides  every thing we all understand that my game that I started last year fits very well here, HOPE is what we all need even me the writer of this very blog.
    Now I know that it has been fully  apparent, that for a long while that I haven't been sure of what to use as my desktop images or picture wise for the site so it will take a bit of time but I am going to be putting a effort to being creative besides  word wise this upcoming year.                

Well like everyone else I too had something happen before Christmas.........

Hello All,

   Well it just seems never to end at times I guess huh?, weather it's the joyful season of being kind hearted as it its right now or just a random every other kind of day it has finally happen to little ol me Matt once again! It seems as if my Samsung Galaxy tab4 tablet has just died on me. I know that I recently was going to be telling ALLL OF YOU to be aware of phone scams which I'm sure I STILL WILL BECAUSE NO ONE SHOULD BE AWAY from HIS/HERS CREATIVTY JUICES FOR VERY LONG. Hopefully many of you who do create art of any kind on the internet haven't had that said problem? Yet that is for another time.

       I guess in all on honesty I shouldn't be too mad about it of what has happen to my Tablet from Samsung. I had gotten it originally back during my trip with my folks and I went to go see family in Minnesota back in twenty fourteen  when we included seeing and driving to both of the Dakotas and vexing those four famous heads seen here George Washington, Tomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and of  course Abraham Lincoln.

Known better as Mount Rushmore. Still I need to go back and tell those yarns as well ..... So I happen to have whole back history with my Galaxy tab 4 in it's own story so here it is? When we were going through North Dakota we stopped at in the town of Billings at a Best Buy store and picked up the Tablet4 device paid for it only to have it have what problem I have with it now that battery is burned out. When it happen back then it was less than twelve hours and we were in South Dakota then. We took it to the one in town there and exchanged it.

       The one thing most that I'm going to miss for a little bit of a long while is my game that I'm always going on about known simply as    

STARTREK TIMELINES. Which is playing till the end of this year my favorite part of Star Trek lore, a bunch of mini games from the Mirror Universe. Please wish me luck that I can tack on a new Samsung tablet onto my Christmas wish list? or get one soon after maybe?  

    

Trusting humans is HARD if your a certain bird....

Hello all, 
Well without any doubt the title of this entry should scare a Brown feather animal that in a small akward way shares my last name..... Still my whole day was full of very unknowness mainly because as far as I had known about our plans for eating were going to be at my brother Michael's abode,  for as I had told to me by my sister in-law Kathie that our usual suspects in meeting up with were sick and under the weather with the various flu bugs known as her parents place. Yet that was from so early this month it could be that we Kathie and Michael and I  were planning our own gathering of filling family bellies with two famous teenagers on this very blog, or at least close to it for Kathie too was like me playing dodge ball of anything causing time away from work.  
         So this morning even though I could have slept in since I had today off, I didn't for the boy in me since 1985 maybe in truth it was nineteen eighty three...it is my driving force to always bring about the next upcoming holiday known as Christmas . I  do it by filling my inner soul with the Macy day parade watching all of the balloon floats in New York, on my television wishing at some point of being there live one given upcoming year.... I'm not going to lie I'm always looking out for the Marvel float of Spider-Man, still with this being the ninety first run of the actual parade since it was first presented wise back in the original "MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET" movie from in nineteen forty seven which had this balloon seen here 
  

 okay so what I am talking about is the fourth coming balloon float with the big baseball glove in it's right hand. It was known as Harold the baseball player float of nineteen forty sixth Marcy Parade which you can see below on the left. 

      So this year the Parade organizers decided to honor that film's most unseen character in the way of balloon floats and on the upper right is the latest take on Miracle's greatest hidden true secret revealed seventy years later!

      My brother Michael had called me at the eleventh hour of this morning to see if I was ready to go all in on joining him and his small crew for fun. I told him give me to noon or a little after and I'm there. So after getting all slicked up I was ready in a rather Barry Allen minute if you know what I mean!, we were at his abode and playing Mario Kart on their gaming system. I  choose as my player the little ghost dude that on the onset looks like a fluffy marsh mellow  named BOO as I was playing both my brother and his wife and their son Cannon Heidi his older sister was getting ready to go to wherever our Turkey plans laid bare Which while we were playing our six rounds I found out that after all Kathie's side of the family was stronger in the sense of being  healthy that made me feel more confidant at least in my brain and that is a great thing since I deal; with the public on a daily basis.

When we got to Kathie's folk place we all started our own small conversations with members of her family and their friends who also came for the feast of grand thankfulness, after a few minutes of that talking the feasting began in fact here was what was on the table

, minus the yams.  In fact here is a whole better look at the whole Turkey with a couple of bottles of sparkling cider which that is the drink of choice at both this time of year and  the one day coming up

called Christmas day.  After we all sat at our given places at the table Kathie's father said grace and we started passing everything around to who wanted what with their turkey and just so you don't think that I was left out on choices of my own here is what I had on my first plate....

of course their were at least thee more helpings of Yams which I totally forgot to grab a photo of. We stayed till close to eight and had more topics of discussions that were mostly from how I saw it showing me Matt once again how we are all just flawed in being simply human at even our best times of togetherness. We had pie for dessert of three kinds A Apple one, a pumpkin one actually there were two that one, and earlier of when my brother picked me up we went to Albertsons an got a couple of pecan pies one was sugar free just in cause anyone wanted it. Now I know every one you want to know how the heck did I fair on Mario Kart while at Michael home here is how it went down mostly out of the six games I came in seventh expect for the last one we were playing on that one I came in THIRD an for me that is just out right cool. What I do hope is that for the many people in this world that are without anyone realize you have a place in my thoughts and hopes that someone is kind to you today even if it is only to give you a little something of food because I know we can be blind even when we don't want to be,but please don't ever think anyone is better than yourself for we must always remember at the end of any day regardless of if it is a holiday or not you too are also loved and respected even when you don't see it either!

Again I hope that we all have a blessed and humbling Turkey day!
